AUS vs NZ (2nd ODI) – Highlights

Yesterday morning, Australia and New Zealand met in the 2nd of the three-match ODI series. Australia batted first and set a target of around 200 for New Zealand. But chasing that target, New Zealand collapsed before 100 runs. Along with that, Australia won the match and took the series away with them. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc got the man of the match title due to his good batting and bowling.

The first one-day match was a hard-fought battle. However, in the end, Australia won by 2 wickets. Cameron Green and Alex Carey combined to secure that victory. But on Thursday all credit goes to the bowlers. The Kiwi batters were collapsed by the power of Australian bowlers.

New Zealand won the toss and put Australia in to bat in Cairns. Batting first, David Warner, Aaron Finch, and others were left the field quickly by the Kiwi bowlers.

Aussies lost 4 wickets for 26 runs. They lost 5 wickets for 54 runs. Aaron Finch (0 from 2), David Warner (5 from 11), Marnus (5 from 12), Marcus Stoinis (0 from 6), and Alex Carey (12 from 28).

Steven Smith scored the highest run for them. He scored 61 off 94 balls. He also hit 5 fours and 1 six. And Mitchell Starc came down to bat at number nine and played the responsible innings of 38 runs off 45 balls. He also hit 2 fours and 1 six. Besides, Glenn Maxwell scored 25 runs off 50 balls. Sean Abbott scored 7 runs off 15 balls. Adam Zampa scored 16 runs off 21 balls with the help of 2 fours.

Josh Hazlewood came down to bat at number 11 and scored an unbeaten 23 off 16 balls. Australia’s score somehow reached 195 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs at Tennetun, relying on the two tail-enders.

Trent Boult took 4 wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs for New Zealand. Matt Henry took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner took 1 wicket each.

A target of only 196 runs. A very modest target in a 50-over match. But 196 runs were far away, the New Zealand cricket team could not even score 100 runs. All out for just 82 runs.

In the second ODI match, the bowlers of both teams showed their charisma. Overshadowing each other, the batters were beaten on the field of battle. However, New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Matt Henry were overtaken by Australia’s Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, and Sean Abbott. As a result, Zampa and Co. gave victory to Australia by 113 runs after taking all the wickets of New Zealand for just 82 runs.

None of the Kiwi batsmen could stay at the crease as they chased the runs. No batsman could cross the 20-run barrier. New Zealand got all out in just 33 overs under the power of Zampa. Skipper Kane Williamson scored the highest 17 runs among the Kiwi batsmen. Besides, Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 16. The condition of the rest is not worth mentioning. Most of the players returned to the dressing room with 2 runs or 5 runs.

Spinner Zampa himself took 5 wickets for Australia. Starc and Abbott took 2 wickets each. Marcus Stoinis took 1 wicket. Australia won the second match by 113 runs and pocketed the series. This time, Australia has a chance to whitewash the Kiwis as well by winning the third and last ODI.

PAK vs AFG (Super Four, Match 4) – Highlights

Pakistan and Afghanistan faced each other in the Super Four match on Wednesday. Pakistan entered the final with a dramatic 1-wicket victory. So Afghanistan and India have been eliminated from the Asia Cup T20, and Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play in the final.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium witnessed one of the best games in history. Lower-order batsman Nasim Shah gave Pakistan an incredible win by hitting 2 consecutive sixes in the last over in a tight fight.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited the Afghans to bat in this crucial match of the Asia Cup in Sharjah. Batting First, Afghanistan’s innings were stopped at just 129 runs for 6 wickets by the Pakistani bowlers.

However, despite losing the toss, Afghanistan made a great start in batting. Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made an opening partnership of 43 runs off 29 balls.

In the fourth over of the innings, Zazai was caught out by Haris Rauf after hitting two consecutive boundaries. But Nasim Shah dropped that easy catch. However, Pakistan did not have to wait long for wickets. One ball later, Rauf bowled out Gurbaz (17 off 11 balls 2 sixes) in a brilliant delivery. In the next over, Hasnain bowled Zazai (21 off 17 balls).

After that, Afghanistan’s run rate decreased. Janat was caught out by Mohammad Nawaz for just 15 runs off 19 balls. Najibullah (11 off 10) was caught at long-on while hitting a six off the last ball of the 14th over.

The Afghans lost another wicket on the first ball of the next over. Skipper Mohammad Nabi was dismissed by Nasim Shah’s brilliant delivery, he made a golden duck. Ibrahim Zadran (35 off 37 balls) was playing slowly. Haris Rauf picked him up in the 17th over. In the end, Afghanistan reached 129 runs in Rashid Khan’s 15-ball 18 and Omarzai’s 10-ball 10-run innings.

Haris Rauf was the most successful Pakistani bowler. This pacer took 2 wickets with 26 runs in 4 overs. Another pacer Nasim Shah took a wicket for just 19 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Mohammad Hasnain, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz took 1 wicket each.

The target was only 130 runs. However, Pakistan lost a couple of players initially and was under domination. Babar Azam (0) and Fakhr Zaman (5) returned to the dressing room within 18 runs of the team. Then Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed made a slow partnership of 27 runs off 33 balls. In the eighth over of the innings, Rizwan (26 balls 20) was trapped in lbw by Rashid Khan and broke the pair.

Iftikhar was playing very cautiously. This right-handed batsman was the victim of Farid Ahmed after scoring 30 runs off 33 balls. Pakistan then needed 43 from 27 balls. So the Afghan bowlers had come out strong and Shadab (36 off 26) was caught in the 2nd ball of the 17th over.

Pakistan’s run was 105 for 5 at the end of 17 overs in a tense match. 25 from 18 balls were needed for victory. With enough wickets in hand, the game was on the side of Pakistan.

But then came the drama. Mohammad Nawaz (4) and Khushdil Shah (1) were picked up by Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqui for just 4 runs in the 18th over.

In the next over, Asif Ali scored 10 runs with a six, but Pakistan lost two more wickets, Haris Rauf 0 and Asif caught out for 16 off 8 balls, Pakistan almost got knocked out of the match.

At last 11 were needed in the last over. But with just 1 wicket in hand and there was no recognized batsman. Can Nasim Shah and Mohammad Hasnain win the match in the lower order? Surely they also did not believe in themselves.

But Nasim Shah did the impossible. This lower order gave Pakistan an incredible victory by hitting two sixes in the first two balls of the last over.

AUS vs NZ (1st ODI) – Highlights

Yesterday morning, Australia and New Zealand met in the first of the three-match ODI series. New Zealand put up a great target for Australia as they batted first. Chasing that target, Australia won the match with the stormy batting of Alex Carey and Cameron Greene. Along with that, Australia also took a step towards winning the series. On the other hand, Cameron Green got the title of man of the match with outstanding batting.

New Zealand lost the toss and chose to bat first. Devon Conway scored 46 runs off 68 balls for them. He also hit 4 fours and 1 six. Kane Williamson scored 45 with 3 fours and 1 six, Tom Latham scored 43 from 57 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Daryl Mitchell was dismissed for 26 with 2 fours. Besides, Martin Guptill scored 6 runs, Michael Bracewell 7 runs, James Neesham 16 runs, Mitchell Santner 13 runs, Matt Henry 4 runs, Lockie Ferguson 5 runs, and Trent Boult 6 runs. With 15 runs extra the Kiwis finally collected 232 runs with the loss of 9 wickets.

Glenn Maxwell took 4 wickets for 52 runs in 10 overs. Josh Hazlewood took 3 wickets. Besides, Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa took 1 wicket each.

The capital was not very big. Only 233 runs. But the New Zealand bowlers made this capital unintelligible for Australia. However, the end was not good. Australia won in the end with the bravery of two-middle order batsmen.

The Aussies lost 8 wickets after going into bat for a target of 233 runs. But at the last moment, with the determination of Cameron Green and Adam Zampa, Australia won the match by 2 wickets with 30 balls in hand.

With this match, the third ODI match was played at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, Queensland. The previous two were held, 19 years ago, in 2003. Both are against Bangladesh. After 19 years, Australia was playing against New Zealand in this field. And they managed to keep the winning streak.

With a target of 233 runs, Australia lost 5 first-row batsmen for 44 runs. Especially the wickets of Aussie batsmen started to fly like straw in front of the bowling of Matt Henry and Trent Boult.

Alex Carey and Cameron Green tied the pair for the 6th wicket. The two made an impeccable partnership of 158 runs together. It was this pair that basically brought victory to Australia.

Despite a 158-run stand by Alex Carey and Cameron Green, the match moved towards a suffocating situation. Because, after Alex Carey got out after 202 runs, 2 more wickets fell in 207 runs. In other words, Australia went from 202 for 5 wickets to 207 for 8 wickets.

At that time, it seemed impossible for Australia to win without something dramatic. Cameron Green and Adam Zampa did the impossible. Adam Zampa and Cameron Green combined for the 9th wicket to end the match. Green was unbeaten on 89 off 92 balls. He also hit 1 six with 10 boundaries. Adam Zampa remains unbeaten with 13 runs off 13 balls.

Alex Carey got out after scoring 85 runs off 99 balls. He hit one six with 8 boundaries.

Trent Boult took 4 wickets for 40 runs in 10 overs. Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson took 2 wickets each.

IND vs SL (Super 4 – Match 03) – Highlights

Despite participating in the Asia Cup as favorites, India’s departure from the Super Four has almost been confirmed. Their hopes of making the finals are virtually over with a 6-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka after being lost by Pakistan. On the other hand, Sri Lanka went one step further for the final by defeating the Men in Blues.

Two Sri Lankan openers were also seen on the rampage after Rohit Sharma was seen to raise a storm at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday (September 6). Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka kept the storm going on that was raised by Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, and this ensured the Lankans’ victory. Chasing the challenging target of 174 runs given by India, the Lankans reached the port of victory after losing 4 wickets with 1 ball in hand.

Sri Lanka got off to a flying start coming down to chase runs. Where they scored 57 runs without losing any wicket in 6 overs of power play. Opener Nissanka picked up his 50 off 33 balls. However, the Indians got their first wicket in the 12th over of the innings. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal gave the first breakthrough by dismissing Nissanka. He scored 52 runs in 37 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

The opening pair was broken scoring 97 runs in the first ball of the 12th over. Charith Aslanka, who came in the wicket in one down, returned off Chahal in the same over. Despite playing 3 balls, he could not score any runs. Danushka Gunathilaka could not stay on the wicket for long. He fell victim to Ravichandran Ashwin after playing 7 balls and returned to the dressing room after scoring only 1 run.

After that, Kusal, who picked up a fifty off 33 balls, was trapped on the leg before by Chahal for 57 runs and returned to the pavilion. His innings had 4 fours and 2 sixes. But the whirlwind magic of two spinners Chahal and Ashwin suddenly changed the picture of the match. From 97/0 Sri Lanka’s scoreboard became 110/4. Sri Lanka lost four wickets in 13 runs and went on the back foot in the match.

In this situation, Rajapaksa and captain Shanaka formed a brilliant pair. Sri Lanka took control of the match again with the devastating batting of these two batters. Sri Lanka needed 21 runs off the last 12 balls. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 19th over of the innings made the work of the Lankans quite easy. Shanaka and Rajapaksha took 14 runs from that over with two fours along with two wides. The equation to win for the Lankans became 7 runs from 6 balls.

However, Arshdeep Singh’s last over did not reduce the thrill. 2 runs were needed from 2 balls, and Shanaka couldn’t connect the ball on the bat but started running for runs. Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant threw, but he could not put it on the stumps, 2 bye runs were made instead of 1 run. As a result, Sri Lanka won the match by 6 wickets with 1 ball to spare.

Rajapaksa scored 25* in 17 balls with 2 sixes and Shanaka played an unbeaten 33-run innings with 4 fours and 1 six in 18 balls and left the field after winning the game. 64 runs came from 34 balls in their unbroken partnership. Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 wickets for India. Ravichandran Ashwin took a wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss, India scored 173 runs for 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs, relying on the stormy batting of captain Rohit. KL Rahul (6) got out in the second over of the innings. In the next over, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck by Dilshan Madushanka. Rohit took charge of the team in such a dangerous situation. Along with young Suryakumar Yadav, they formed a destructive partnership of 97 runs from 58 balls for the third wicket.

Rohit, who picked up his 28th career fifty, hit 5 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. He scored 72 runs off 41 balls. On the other hand, Suryakumar could not go score big despite raising hopes. He fell victim to Shanaka scoring 34 runs off 29 balls with 1 four and 1 six. After that, no other batsman on the Indian team could stand against the Lankan bowlers.

Hardik Pandya (17), Deepak Hooda (3), Rishabh Pant (17), and Bhuvneshwar (0) were out cheaply. In the end, if Ashwin did not play a cameo innings of unbeaten 15 runs off 7 balls, India’s score would not have gone that far. Dilshan Madushanka took the highest number of 3 wickets for the Lankans. Besides, Chamika Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka took 2 wickets each and Maheesh Theekshana picked up 1 wicket for the winning side.
