Josh Philippe’s stormy innings helped Sydney Sixers to secure a resounding 6-run win over Hobart Hurricanes at the Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday in a rain-interrupted match of BBL 2022. He was adjudged player of the match for his match-winning innings of 43 runs off 21 balls, with 4 fours and 1 six. Also, Sydney Sixers got their first win after losing two matches in a row in this season of BBL.

When the match was delayed due to rain, the game was reduced from 20 overs to 14 overs. After winning the toss, Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques elected to bat first sending Hobart Hurricanes to bowl. Sydney Sixers lost 6 wickets in the scheduled 14 overs and collected a big score of 137 runs.

Two openers of Sydney Sixers, Kurtis Patterson, and Josh Philippe gave the team a flying start. The two put on an opening stand of 68 off 40 balls. Kurtis Patterson scored 38 off 25 balls before returning to the pavilion. Where he hit an even number of 2 fours and sixes. Chasing a huge target of 138 runs, the Hobart Hurricanes batsmen were under pressure from the start in the controlled bowling of Sydney Sixers.
