Yesterday (Friday) Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers met in the 13th match of BBL 2022/23. Batting first in that match, Brisbane hit set a target in the allotted 20 overs. But in the 2nd innings, Adelaide Strikers could not reach the target as the scheduled 20 overs ended. Also, after winning this match, Brisbane Heat is in the 4th place in the points table and Adelaide Strikers is in the 1st place after losing the match. Besides, Sam Billings won the man-of-the-match title for Brisbane Heat due to his excellent batting.

Brisbane Heat won the toss, elected to bat first, and invited the Adelaide Strikers to bowl. Batting first, Brisbane Heat’s players did not get off to a good start. 2 wickets fell for 12 runs. Colin Munro, who scored 1 run from 3 balls, left the field after being caught out first. After that, Matt Renshaw was caught out again by the short’s ball and returned to the dressing room. He scored only 2 runs in 5 balls.

On the 1st ball of the 9th over, the team’s opener Max Bryant returned to the dressing room at 64 runs. He played an innings of 46 runs from 29 balls with the help of 8 fours. Sam Billings, the highest run-scorer for them, returned on the 1st ball of the 20th over. He was bowled out by Wes Agar. He played an innings of 79 runs from 48 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes. James Bazley who scored 5 runs in 4 balls was dismissed in the 4th ball. Mark Steketee was out in the last ball. In the end, they lost 9 wickets with 8 extra runs and scored 166 runs.

Matthew Short took 3 wickets for 14 runs in 3 overs for Adelaide Strikers. Wes Agar took 3 wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Peter Siddle took 2 wickets and Henry Thornton took 1 wicket.

Batting for a target of 167 runs, their innings stopped at 160 runs after losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. They were not off to a good start either. 4 wickets were lost after the team’s 38 runs. Their opener Jake Weatherold left the field first after hitting a golden duck, Matthew Short scored 3 runs, Chris Lynn scored 12 runs from 10 balls, and Adam Hoes scored 8 runs from 11 balls. After that, the wickets stopped kept falling. But once again the opposite team started taking wickets at regular intervals after 111 runs.

Thomas Kelly scored the most runs for them. He made 43 runs from 33 balls with the help of 4 fours and 1 six. Colin de Grandhomme scored 37 runs off 30 balls. Harry Nielsen scored 24 runs, and Wes Agger scored 15 runs. Rashid Khan scored 2 runs. Besides, Peter Siddle was unbeaten on 8 runs. In the end, they left the field with a loss of 8 runs extra.

Mark Steketty took 4 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs for Brisbane Heat, and Michael Nesser took 2 wickets. Besides, James Bazley, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Ross Whiteley took 1 wicket each.
