BAN vs IND (1st Test) – Highlights

India and Bangladesh met in Chittagong’s 1st match of the 2-match test series on 14th December. India came down to bat in the 1st innings of that match and set a huge target. After that, Bangladesh went down to bat in the 1st innings with a trial of huge runs and ended before 200 runs. India announced the innings after coming down to bat in the 2nd innings and prepared a huge target. After that, Bangladesh came down to bat in the 2nd innings with a huge target but could not reach the target despite making a lot of effort. As a result, they had to leave the field with a loss in the 1st match of the series. On the other hand, India took a step towards winning the series by winning this match. Apart from this, Kuldeep Yadav won the man of the match title by taking 8 wickets in 2 innings.

After winning the toss and batting on the first day, India lost 6 wickets and scored 278 runs. Out of this Cheteshwar Pujara scored 90 runs. Played 203 balls to score 90 runs with 11 fours. Besides, Rishabh Pant scored 46 runs. Only Shreyas Iyer was there among the recognized batsmen on Day 2. Ebadot Hossain uprooted that thorn in the morning. Iyer scored 86 runs in 10 boundaries off 192 balls. India lost 7 wickets for 293 runs. Then Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav of the lower order changed the score. Playing 200 balls, they made an important pair of 87 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz finally broke this pair. Ashwin’s innings were 58 off 113 balls. After Ashwin got out, Kuldeep could not last long. Taijul trapped him in LBW in the next over (40). India was all out for 404 runs in 133.5 overs.

Bangladesh’s two spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraj took 4 wickets each. Besides, Ebadot Hossain and Khaled Ahmed took 1 wicket each.

Bangladesh could score only 133 runs after losing 8 wickets in the 1st innings on the 2nd day. Mushfiqur Rahim scored the most runs among them. He scored 28 runs in 58 balls with the help of 3 fours. Besides, Liton Das scored 24 runs off 30 balls. After starting the third day of the Chittagong Test, Bangladesh could only add 17 more runs. The Tigers were all out for 150 runs. As a result, visiting India got a huge lead of 254 runs.

India’s Kuldeep Yadav took 5 wickets with 40 runs. 3 wickets were taken by Mohammad Siraj. Apart from this, Umesh Yadav and Axar Patel took 1 wicket each.

In the second innings of the Chittagong Test, India scored 258 runs for 2 wickets and announced the innings. As a result, Bangladesh had a target of 513 runs to win. The record for the highest run chase in Test history is 418 runs. In other words, to win this test, Bangladesh had to set a world record. In that innings, Khaled Ahmed returned Captain Lokesh Rahul with a personal 23 runs. Then Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill made a big partnership of 113 runs. Gill scored his first career century. Mehdi Hasan Miraj returned this opener who played an innings of 110 runs in 152 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Puja also scored a century. This batsman remained unbeaten on 102 runs off 130 balls with 13 boundaries. Besides, Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 19 runs.

A world record target of 513 runs was ahead. Where there is no record of winning by chasing more than 418 runs in Test history, it was an exaggeration to think that Bangladesh will achieve the impossible in this match. However, the fans were hopeful after the two openers Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan conceded 124 runs in the opening pair. But Bangladesh could not reach the dream in the end. Couldn’t even get close. India defeated Shakib Al Hasan’s team by a huge margin of 1the 88 runs in Chittagong Test. Shanto scored 67 runs for Bangladesh. Besides, Zakir scored 100 runs from 224 balls and Shakib scored 84 runs. In the end, their innings stopped at 324 runs.

Axar Patel took 4 wickets at the cost of 77 runs. Kuldeep Yadav, who took 5 wickets in the first innings, took 3 wickets in the 2nd innings.
