India and Bangladesh will face off in match number 17 of ODI World Cup 2023 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on October 19. India will come into the contest with a perfect record of three wins in three matches, while Bangladesh has won one out of three.

This will be the fifth time the two teams have faced each other in the ODI World Cup. Notably, India have won three of the previous four encounters. Virat Kohli is expected to play a key role for India against Bangladesh and his performance in Pune will be crucial. Kohli’s ODI World Cup debut century came against Bangladesh in Mirpur in 2011, scoring 100 runs in 83 balls with eight fours and two sixes.

Kohli has an excellent record in Pune across all formats. In 12 innings batted at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, he has amassed 762 runs at an impressive average of 69.27, which is the highest of any batsman with a minimum of five innings at the venue. He has also scored three centuries in Pune, the most by any batsman at the venue

Against pacers: In 10 innings against the pacers in Pune, Kohli has scored 389 runs at an average of 55.57 while he has got dismissed six times.

The pitch in Pune is typically flat and has somethig in it for the pacers, which suits Kohli’s batting style. His ability to play spin is also a major asset in Pune. Kohli will need to be patient and disciplined if he wants to score big runs against Bangladesh.
