टीम इंडिया इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ पांच मैचों की टेस्ट सीरीज खेलने के लिए तैयार है। सीरीज का पहला टेस्ट मैच 20 जून से हेंडिग्ले में खेला जाएगा। रोहित शर्मा के संन्यास के बाद शुभमन गिल को टीम की कमान सौंपी गई है। वहीं ऋषभ पंत को उपकप्तान की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है। दोनों के लिए यह सीरीज पहली चुनौती है।

वहीं 18 जून को लीड्स में प्री-मैच कॉन्फ्रेंस में ऋषभ पंत ने शुभमन गिल की नई बल्लेबाजी पोजीशन को लेकर स्थिति साफ कर दी। उन्होंने कंफर्म किया कि गिल अब टेस्ट फॉर्मेट में नंबर 4 पर बल्लेबाजी करेंगे, जिस स्थान पर पहले विराट कोहली बल्लेबाजी करते थे।

इस समय श्रीलंका और बांग्लादेश के बीच पहला टेस्ट मैच गॉल इंटरनेशनल स्टेडियम में खेला जा रहा है। जहां खेल के तीसरे दिन श्रीलंका के लिए पथुम निसांका ने शानदार शतक लगाया। इससे पहले बांग्लादेश ने पहली पारी में 495 रनों का स्कोर बनाया।
