Top 3 most expensive spells in Indian T20 League

In T20 cricket, the batters frequently have the upper hand. They just intend to knock boundaries and sixes off the first ball when they take the crease. The bowlers, on the other hand, only have four overs at their disposal to create an impact. In T20 cricket, shot-making has evolved, making it more challenging for bowlers to maintain control of the match and consistently pitch the ball in specific places.

The ability to bowl a variety of different balls is essential for success in T20 cricket. Even a bowler with the highest abilities could find it difficult to contain the runs, particularly in the powerplay and death overs. As time goes on, there have been bowlers who have conceded plenty of runs in their quota of overs

Throughout Indian T20 League history, Ishant Sharma has a less-than-stellar track record. He was the victim of a vicious onslaught by the Chennai team during the 2013 season. Sharma, who represented Hyderabad, was assigned to bowl the second over of the contest. The worst was still to come as he gave up 11 runs in that over. In the following over, Murali Vijay’s bowling produced three straight sixes. He gave up 25 runs in his final over, including four fours and a six from Suresh Raina. Ishant’s spell continues to rank among the most expensive in Indian T20 League history.

2. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman of Afghanistan is well-known in T20 cricket circles for his noteworthy exploits. Even though he has a long list of successful Indian T20 League spells, he also owns the record for the second-most costly spell ever. Mujeeb, who played for Punjab in the 2019 Indian T20 League season, came under intense attack.

He entered the game to bowl in the second over and allowed 10 runs in his opening frame. Even worse, Warner hit three fours in the following over, which saw him give up 28 runs. Mujeeb finished with 66 runs conceded in his four overs as Nabi and Williamson hit three sixes and a four in his final over. Due to this, Hyderabad defeated Punjab by a score of 45 runs.

1. Basil Thampi

Basil Thampi, while playing for Hyderabad in 2018, was destroyed by Bangalore for 70 runs in just four overs. Thampi was completely dismantled by Moeen Ali in his opening over, who smashed two sixes at him. AB de Villiers maintained the assault in the subsequent over, scoring 18 runs off the bowler.

The difficulties experienced by bowlers in the Indian T20 League, where they have to compete with some of the finest batters in the world, are highlighted by Thampi’s poor performance in a match under pressure. Despite this poor performance, Thampi has still been a key player in the Indian T20 League, demonstrating his skill and fortitude as a fast bowler.
