The day is 11th October 2024 and this is also the time where we saw Usman Khawaja play one of the best knocks of his life by scoring a total of 141 to save the 1st Test in Dubai back in 2018. One of the classic innings we have seen from the Australian Opener who saved a Test match out of nowhere when his team was looking down and out at one position.

Usman Khawaja is one of the most underrated batters for Australia, especially in Test Cricket. In his 73 Test Matches, Khawaja has scored over 5000 runs and averages over 45. There are some iconic innings played by the batter, especially in overseas conditions and we have enjoyed every moment of those knocks. This was the day when he proved himself as one of the most reliable Test batters for his nation.

Usman saves the day for the Aussies

This was one of the matches where we saw the elegance and brilliance of Khawaja who saved the Test match out of the jaws of defeat. Pakistan had gone on to score a massive total in the first innings and though Khawaja did play a great knock of 85 the Aussies could only manage a total of 202. However, it was the second innings that had all the drama and took the game away from the South Asian Giants.

At one stage it looked like a comfortable victory for Pakistan who had declared on 181 runs and gave the Aussies a target of 462. However, Khawaja had other plans as he played an impressive knock of 141 from 302 balls to make sure Australia saved the Test match in the end. Khawaja’s knock consisted of 11 fours and was one of the best and most important knocks from the opener which established him in the Test squad.
