The Irish middle-order batter smashed a century against England in the 2011 World Cup while chasing a target of 328 runs. Kevin O’Brien’s 113 runs made the challenging task easier as Ireland completed the run chase to win the match by three wickets. He was also adjudged the player of the match for his match-winning batting contribution.

2. 142 vs Kenya, 2007

This is the first century that Kevin O’Brien scored in his ODI career. He achieved this milestone against Kenya in 2007. Batting first, the Irish team got stuck in a crisis as they lost three wickets with just 57 runs on the scoreboard. However, the match did not slip away from Ireland’s grip as Kevin O’Brien stitched a partnership with opener William Porterfield to extract his team from the crisis. His century ensured that Ireland posted a challenging total for Kenya to chase in the second innings. In the end, Kevin O’Brien had 142 runs to his name with Ireland scoring 284 runs in the first innings.

3. 98* vs Scotland, 2010

Kevin O’Brien almost registered the second century of his ODI career in 2010. The middle-order batter played a heroic knock against Scotland to guide his team in another arduous run chase. Chasing 232 runs in the second innings, Ireland was in a spot of bother with three key batters back in the pavilion early in the first few overs. However, Kevin O’Brien once again enlivened his survival instincts and did the job for his team. He scored an unbeaten 98 runs that saw his team completing the run chase comfortably.
