England vs New Zealand 3rd T20I Stats Review: New Zealand's biggest win over England, Finn Allen's feat and other stats

Brilliant fifties from Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips, followed by an all-round bowling display from the bowlers, helped New Zealand defeat England by a massive margin of 74 runs.

Speaking about the third game, the coin spun in the visitors’ favour as they opted to bat first. New Zealand got off to a fine start, scoring 31 runs in 3.5 overs. Devon Conway was run out for nine, while Tim Seifert was dismissed after scoring 19 off 17, courtesy of Liam Livingstone. Finn Allen and Glenn Philips added 88 runs for the third wicket, both registering their respective fifties.

Finn Allen smashed a 53-ball 83 with six maximums, while Phillips amassed a 34-ball 69 with ten boundaries. Both the batters were dismissed bowled as Luke Wood and Gus Atkinson cleaned them up. New Zealand ended their innings with a massive total of 202/5 in 20 overs. For England, Gus Atkinson picked up two wickets for 31 runs.

Chasing 203, England batters did not live up to the expectations as their top order fell cheaply. Ish Sodhi picked the wickets of Jonny Bairstow (12) and Harry Brook (8), while Tim Southee picked up Dawid Malan and Kyle Jamieson got rid of Will Jacks.

Jos Buttler and Moeen led the rescue with a 37-run stand for the fifth wicket before Mitchell Santner broke the partnership by dismissing Buttler for a 21-ball 40 while Moeen Ali departed for a 16-ball 26. NZ bowlers rattled the tail in no time as England were bowled out for 128, eventually losing the game by a massive 74 runs. New Zealand stay alive in the series with a scorecard reading 2-1. Ish Sodhi and Kyle Jamieson were the pick of bowlers for their spells of 3/33 and 3/23, respectively.

74 – England lost the game by a margin of 74 runs, the second biggest defeat for England at home in T20Is. They have lost to SA by 90 runs in Southampton in 2022, which is top in the list.

83 – Finn Allen scored 83 runs in the third T20I, the highest score by a New Zealand opener against England, bettering Daryl Mitchell’s score of 72* in Abu Dhabi in 2021.

202/5 – New Zealand registered their highest score of 202/5 against England in T20Is, bettering their previous best of 201/5 way back in 2013.

74 – The 74-run win is the biggest win for New Zealand against England in T20I. Their previous best was 55 runs in Hamilton in 2013.

88 – Glenn Phillips and Finn Allen registered an 88-run partnership for the third wicket. This is the second-highest third-wicket partnership for New Zealand against England in T20Is. 91 runs is the highest partnership for the third wicket between Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell in 2022 in Brisbane.

6 – Finn Allen smashed six maximums in the third T20I, the second most number of sixes hit by a New Zealand opener against England in T20Is. Colin Munro tops the list with seven maximums.

66 – Both Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee have picked up 66 wickets for New Zealand in T20Is away from home. They both share the first spot for New Zealand.
