Delhi’s Ranji Trophy clash against Railways in the 2024-25 season became special as it saw the return of Virat Kohli to domestic cricket after 12 long years, drawing thousands of fans to the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, Kohli’s highly-anticipated innings ended in heartbreak as Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan produced a peach of a delivery, sending his off-stump cartwheeling.

Kohli looked calm in his initial few deliveries but was soon tested by Railways’ pacers in his brief stay in the middle. Kunal Yadav, in particular, troubled him twice outside off-stump, once with a full delivery swinging in and a short ball that beat his outside edge. Despite that, Kohli managed to smash a straight four off Sangwan.

However, on the very next delivery, the right-arm pacer produced a brilliant length delivery that went through the gap between the bat and pad and crashed into the off stump. The batter’s stump cartwheeling made Sangwan break into a fiery celebration. While the stadium, which had been cheering just moments before, went silent as Kohli walked back for just 6 runs, putting Delhi struggling at 86/3.
