WATCH MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma bring trophy to ground ahead of T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand

Legendary captains MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma were out at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, to place the trophy on the dais ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand on Sunday, March 08. The duo bringing the trophy on the ground ahead of the national anthems created a heartwarming moment, sending fans into a frenzy.

Dhoni and Rohit have both been T20 World Cup-winning captains themselves. The 44-year-old is also the first-ever captain to get his hands on the silverware when he led the Indian team to the title in the inaugural 2007 edition, whereas Rohit led his troops to the prestigious silverware after a 17-year-long wait in the previous edition in 2024.

After placing the trophy at its spot, Dhoni created a cheeky moment on the ground, asking if he could take the trophy back with him. “Should I take it back?” Dhoni said during the ceremonial event as the teams and other match officials arrived at the ground for the national anthems.
