MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi were in attendance at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to witness the second semi-final between India and England on Thursday, March 5. The match turned out to be a riveting affair as both teams threw the kitchen sink at each other but it was India who emerged victorious.
Chasing an improbable target of 254, England didn’t get overawed and took the attack to the Indian bowlers. During the closing stages of the match, Sam Curran defended a ball back to Jasprit Bumrah off the latter’s bowling. While it was clearly a bump ball, Sakshi thought the veteran Indian pacer had dismissed the England all-rounder caught and bowled. During a replay, Sakshi was seen celebrating the incident before Dhoni asked her to calm down and informed him that it was not out.

England eventually lost the match by just seven runs despite staying in the match till the very end. Jacob Bethell starred with the bat for the Three Lions, as he slammed 105 off just 48 balls, belting eight fours and seven sixes. Will Jacks also played a solid cameo down the order. However, India had just too many runs on the board.
Earlier in the day, India lost the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in the second over after being invited to bat first. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan took the England bowlers to the cleaners after Abhishek’s dismissal. After Kishan departed for an 18-ball 39, it was Shivam Dube who gave Samson great company.
The wicketkeeper-batter slammed 89 off just 42 balls, hitting eight fours and seven maximums. Dube scored 43 off 25 deliveries, while Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma chipped in with handy cameos.
Suryakumar Yadav and Co. will now face England in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.
