Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has made his intentions clear ahead of the India-Pakistan clash in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Hours after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially called off its proposed boycott of the marquee fixture, Farhan revealed that he was mentally prepared for the February 15 contest and eager to take an attacking approach against India.

The build-up to the encounter had been hampered by political and administrative uncertainty, with Pakistan initially refusing to play India amid disagreements involving the ICC and Bangladesh’s exclusion from the tournament. After days of negotiations involving the ICC, PCB, and the Pakistan government, the boycott was withdrawn, making the way for the match to go ahead in Colombo.

Soon after, Farhan broke his silence following Pakistan’s convincing win over the USA, offering insight into the team’s mindset heading into the clash. Speaking at the post-match presentation after being named Player of the Match against the USA, Farhan stressed that Pakistan would not deviate from its attacking philosophy against India.

“We’ll go in with the same mindset as we did in our previous matches against India, including the Asia Cup. We’ll try to stay positive and play attacking cricket,” Farhan said.

The opener’s comments came on the back of a knock of 73 off 41 balls against the USA, which guided Pakistan’s 32-run victory. The opener revealed that he had been feeling confident well before the match.

“The way we practiced yesterday, the ball was coming nicely onto my bat in the nets. I told our batting coach Hanif Malik that I was getting a good feeling. I was confident. I even said, I will finish the match in a way that earns me the player-of-the-match award. I’ve set a personal target for myself, to win at least two to three player-of-the-match awards in this World Cup,” he added.
