Ranji Trophy 2024: Ajinkya Rahane called back to crease after ‘obstructing the field’ dismissal

Ranji Trophy 2024: Ajinkya Rahane called back to crease after 'obstructing the field' dismissal

In a controversial moment in the Mumbai and Assam clash at the ongoing Ranji Trophy, veteran Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed in the first innings of the clash due to obstructing the field.

On the last delivery before tea, Rahane hit a straight drive and opted to take a single. However, he was sent back by Shivam Dube, and as he went back to the strike, he got in the way of a throw from the midfielder Denish Das and was given out for obstructing the field.

However, in an act of commendable sportsmanship, Assam later withdrew their appeal, and Rahane was called up to the crease on a score of 18 runs in 52 deliveries. Given a second chance, the veteran batter failed to make a further impact on the clash, as he was later sent packing for 22 runs in 69 deliveries.
