One of the best batters to grace the Ranji Trophy stage in the present generation, Sheldon Jackson has announced his retirement from professional cricket. He played for Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 as the team reached the quarter-finals of the event. Unfortunately, as the team succumbed to Gujarat in the playoffs, it also drew the curtain to Jackson’s over 15 years of career.  In his last Ranji game, he came up with scores of 14 and 27 in both innings.

The 38-year-old has retired with more than 7200 runs in 105 first-class matches with a highest score of 186. He smashed 21 centuries and 39 half-centuries in his illustrious domestic career. His consistency could be gauged by the fact that he has finished his career with an average of over 45. Not only with the bat, Jackson has contributed by donning several hats. He also kept wickets for Saurashtra in the limited-over competitions.

“I never thought i would reach this far, But God made it possible , My mother who let me live the dream and my wife who lived it with me, my two little boys who dont even know what this and how much this means to me but where still there to support me when i get back after tough days and matches, With all my heart and soul i would like to thank my 1st and the best captain @jaydevshahofficial without him giving me the opportunity to make my debut i wouldn’t have come this far and , specially Niranjan shah sir who has always backed me and supported me specially when i was down @saurashtracricket @himanshupshah without them them this wouldn’t have even been possible i owe a lot of my success to you, thank you,” wrote Jackson in his farewell post.
