With five titles to their name, Mumbai Indians are known to be one of the most dominant teams in the tournament. The franchise has earned the fanbase and the fame that come with being one of the most successful teams in the IPL. One of the many things that the MI franchise is known for is the developing young talent.

Over the years, the franchise has produced many young talents and provided them with a chance to prove themselves. Mumbai Indians acquired the services of South African batter Dewald Brevis and made him the most expensive buy for a 19-year-old in the IPL 2022 auction. Brevis burst onto the scene after the Under-19 World Cup in 2022 and even showcased his class for Mumbai when he hit Rahul Chahar for four back-to-back sixes.

However, after his hard luck in recent months and the IPL 2023, the 20-year-old has his eyes set on the much-anticipated Major League Cricket 2023. Brevis will be representing MI New York in the tournament and will be keen on showing just why he is one of the most exciting prospects in world cricket.

Despite the lack of game time, he has been constantly backed by MI as he was the pre-auction signing of MI Cape Town and was even part of MI’s emerging player development tour of England as the only overseas player. Speaking of the constant support from the franchise, the 20-year-old came forward to give his take on the same.

“It feels like my blood feels blue, the way I’ve been taken care of, it’s a big thing for me. The MI family makes me feel like I belong. They backed me at a very young age after the under-19 World Cup and gave me a platform. And I’ll always be grateful to that. I’ll always be true to that. So, I’ll run through a wall for them. And the bond is very special,” Brevis told Cricbuzz.

He would also be keen on showcasing his best cricket for MI New York and would look into the distance for his maiden national call-up as well. The 20-year-old is quite confident about the same and opines that he has left everything in God’s plan for him.

“I think just believing it and knowing that there is a big plan for me in my cricket journey, and I trust in that. There’s a saying in the Bible, where it says that your journey is already planned, and you don’t have to worry about it every single day, it will happen at the right time. Don’t rush it. So, it’s going to happen at a certain time. Like God’s timing is always better,” Brevis said.
