Punjab Kings have had a poor day in the field against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 49 of the 2026 Indian Premier League.

They conceded a mammoth 235/4 in their 20 overs after electing to bowl first, but the major talking point was their catching in the field. Not one, not two, but three chances were put down by the Punjab Kings fielders. Ishan Kishan was handed an early life on 9, when Cooper Connolly put down a sitter on the deep square-leg boundary off the bowling of Lockie Ferguson.

Heinrich Klaasen was dropped by Shashank Singh for 9, top-edging a sweep towards deep backward square leg in the following over, bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal. Kishan was once again handed a life on 18, when he was dropped off Chahal’s bowling by Lockie Ferguson on the deep square-leg boundary.

Kishan and Klaasen made their chances count, piling on misery on the Kings for their errors. Kishan scored 55 off 32 balls, taking the bowlers on in the death, while Klaasen top-scored for the Sunrisers with 69 off 43 balls, his fifth half-century of the season.
