Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be challenged by Lucknow Super Giants in Match No. 50 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday, May 07.
The defending champions come into this clash on the back of their third loss of the season, which came against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. They have won six games out of nine thus far and will be looking to rack up wins for a strong finish on the leaderboard. In the reverse fixture in Bengaluru, RCB had beaten the Rishabh Pant-led side by a handsome margin.
Here is RCB’s strongest predicted playing XI for Match 50 vs LSG:
Top order: Virat Kohli, Jacob Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal

The talismanic Virat Kohli has seen a reinvigoration in his batting in IPL 2026. The mercurial batter has scored 379 runs at a strike rate of 165.50, and strikes at 166.9 in the powerplay, his highest in tournament history. He has started taking on the bowlers from the get-go, providing blistering starts to RCB in the games. Jacob Bethell has filled in at the top of the order for the injured Phil Salt but has yet to make a mark with just 39 runs in three innings.
Devdutt Padikkal has looked rejuvenated at number three, and while his run tally reads 282 runs, his blistering strike rate of 188.00 is what stands out. He has been merciless in his takedown of both pace and spin while playing with the trademark elegance associated with his batting.
Middle order: Rajat Patidar (C), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Tim David, Romario Shepherd

Skipper Rajat Patidar’s last half-century came against the Mumbai Indians on April 12. He started his season in fine form, playing as a middle-order enforcer who would take on the spinners. He has scored just 62 runs in four innings since the game against MI. Jitesh Sharma has yet to make a significant impact with the bat but has been brilliant behind the stumps.
In Tim David and Romario Shepherd, RCB have two of the most dangerous finishers in the T20 circuit. David has scored 192 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 192, which includes a brilliant 25-ball 70 against the Chennai Super Kings early in the season. Shepherd, though, has scored just 56 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 140. He has also picked up five wickets in nine games with the ball.
Bowlers: Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar (Impact Sub)

Krunal Pandya has been a brilliant defensive option with the ball for RCB and has picked up nine wickets in eight matches as their lead spinner. He has yet to contribute significantly with the bat but scored an unbeaten 23 to lead the team home against the Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has been RCB’s best bowler and has been a force to reckon with in the powerplay. He has picked up 17 wickets in the nine games they have played.
Josh Hazlewood, RCB’s main bowler in the 2025 season, has started the 2026 season slowly after his return from injury, picking up eight wickets in six matches. Suyash Sharma has bowled brilliantly in a backup role, picking up seven wickets in eight games. Rasikh Dar has filled in as the third pacer with six wickets in five games.
