Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin feels Australia’s Cameron Green will likely attract multiple bids at the upcoming auction for IPL 2026 in the absence of Andre Russell and Glenn Maxwell. While Russell hung up his boots from the IPL as a player, Maxwell recently withdrew his name from the auction pool via an official statement on his social media account.

Other than Green, as per Ashwin, all-rounders such as Liam Livingstone may also lure teams to go after players such as him. For the unversed, even Moeen Ali has announced that he will not be a part of IPL 2026.

“Ask him [Cameron Green] to book 4-5 acres near the Sydney harbor. He has entered the auction this time and there is no Andre Russell or Glenn Maxwell. CSK fans put him ( Maxwell) at No. 6 and were waiting for him but now that chance is gone. Liam Livingstone and Cameron Green have a big jackpot at the auction,” stated Ashwin in a video on his YouTube channel.

Speaking of Green’s IPL career, he has represented Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2023 and 2024, respectively. He was not a part of the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025 due to having sustained a back injury. Green has registered 707 runs at a strike rate of 153.69 and picked up 16 wickets at an economy rate of 9.07.

Green has been in sensational nick in T20Is since coming back from injury. In eight T20Is this year, he has averaged 43 at a strike rate of around 169. Green has also started bowling recently. He is currently a part of Australia’s Ashes squad in their five-match Test series against England. Green recently resumed bowling duties after recovering from a minor side strain.

Franchises will be expected to go after the 26-year-old at the mini auction, which is scheduled to take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. A total of 43 overseas players have set their base price as INR 2 crore, of which even Green is a part.
