The Gujarat Titans (GT) maintained their winning run in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) by securing a four-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, May 3. This is their third win in a row, going level on points with the Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, on 12.

Last year’s finalists were put into bat by GT, where they struggled their way to 163 for the loss of nine wickets from their quota of 20 overs. They were restricted to 47 for 5 before Suryansh Shedge and Marcus Stoinis put on a 79-run partnership, with the duo scoring 57 and 40, respectively. For the 2022 champions, West Indies’ Jason Holder was once again the star with the ball, taking four wickets.

In reply, the Titans chased down the total with one ball to spare. Sai Sudharsan continued with his rich vein of form, scoring 57 off 41 balls. Other important contributions included Washington Sundar’s unbeaten 40 from 23 deliveries. Arshdeep Singh and Vijaykumar Vyshak took two wickets each, but their efforts went in vain.

Key moments of the game:

1. Jason Holder stars with the ball again

After taking two wickets against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Jason Holder once again showed his prowess with the ball by taking four wickets against the Punjab Kings. These included crucial scalps of captain Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis.

2. Suryansh Shedge smashes 26 runs off Manav Suthar’s over

Suryansh Shedge announced himself at this season’s IPL by scoring 57 off just 29 balls to make sure PBKS managed to reach a respectable total in the first innings. His amazing efforts with the bat included hitting 26 runs off the over of Manav Suthar. This included smashing three sixes and two fours. It is worth mentioning that this was Shedge’s first half-century in his young IPL career.

3. Gujarat Titans clinch the game in the last over

In a nail-biting finish to the game, GT needed 11 runs off the final over. After Marcus Stoinis bowled the first ball wide, Arshad Khan hit the next ball to the boundary. It was Washington Sundar who hit the winning runs, scoring a six off the penultimate ball to take his side to much-deserved two points.
