IPL 2024: PBKS players celebrate famous win versus KKR by enjoying Mishti Doi

Punjab Kings (PBKS) managed to snap their four-match losing streak on Friday, April 26, as they chased down a record 262-run target against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens with eight wickets to spare. After the monumental triumph, the Punjab players and support staff enjoyed the famous Bengali sweet dish named Mishti Doi.

In a video shared by the Kings on their official social media handles, an elated Arshdeep Singh can be seen feasting on the famous delicacy, Mishti Doi, with Harpreet Brar for company. Also, a buffet of other dishes was present for the players to enjoy.

The iconic ‘Jatt don’t care’ song can be heard playing in the background. The song became a rage in the Punjab dressing room sincer last year and the tradition continued in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.

PBKS pull off highest run-chase in men’s T20Is

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Sam Curran-led Punjab Kings suffered a hammering at the hands of the KKR batters, who piled on a mammoth 261/6 in their 20 overs after Phil Salt and Sunil Narine smashed swashbuckling half-centuries. Rahul Chahar was the most economical bowler on show for Punjab, as he conceded 33 runs in his four overs and picked up the vital wicket of Narine.

In reply, Prabhsimran Singh got the visitors off to a rollicking start inside the powerplay, as he amassed 54 off just 20 balls before being run out. Jonny Bairstow, who made a comeback in this fixture in place of compatriot Liam Livingstone, scored an epic 108 not out off 48 balls, hitting eight fours and nine sixes to take Punjab to a memorable win. They recorded the highest run-chase in men’s T20 cricket, eventually winning by eight wickets with as many balls to spare. The in-form Shashank Singh played a blinder, as he smashed an unbeaten 68 not out off 28 balls during a match-winning 84-run partnership off 37 balls for the third wicket with Bairstow.
