IPL 2024: Mumbai embraces MS Dhoni and CSK fandom ahead of clash with MI

The excitement surrounding MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has reached a peak in Mumbai ahead of their highly anticipated match against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 on April 14. Throughout the season, Dhoni has been the focal point, with fans from all sides chanting his name and backing the legendary wicketkeeper.

In a recent post on their official X account, CSK shared a video showcasing the team’s journey through the streets of Mumbai. Fans, armed with their phones, gathered to catch glimpses of their favorite players, especially Dhoni. Negotiating through the crowd of supporters, the team bus faced challenges as fans showered their heroes with cheers and support before their practice sessions. CSK affectionately referred to the Wankhede Stadium as ‘WankheDEN,’ acknowledging the immense backing they received.

Ajinkya Rahane, shedding light on the electrifying atmosphere surrounding CSK, credited Dhoni for creating a home-like environment in every match. Rahane highlighted Dhoni’s impact both on and off the field, emphasizing the valuable lessons players have learned from the seasoned cricketer throughout the season.

“In a different perspective, when we are travelling everywhere just because of one man, we are playing a home match just because of Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni). That’s a wonderful feeling, obviously. When we are playing with him, so many things you can learn as a cricketer, as a human being, how he conducts himself… Mumbai guys, Maharashtra guys playing in CSK, the atmosphere which we have in the dressing room within the group is fantastic,” Rahane said as quoted by India Today.
