IPL 2024: Final, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Predicted XI against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Popular IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been one of the best teams during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season. The Shreyas Iyer-led side had dominated most of the matches they played to take the top spot in the league table. KKR having won the IPL title twice already will be looking to make it three titles when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), on Sunday, May 26. 

Having dominated most of the teams during the league phases, KKR outplayed the team from Hyderabad in the first qualifier. The win by 8 wickets was a show of dominance with the bat and ball to become the first team to make it to the finals.

As the final game beckons most of the players will be at their nervous best. Gautam Gambhir who had led the team to the title in 2014 will look to allay the fears and make the players ready for the battle ahead.

Openers – Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine

Many KKR fans wondered if the loss of Phil Salt will hamper the team but the inclusion of Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been a seamless transition. The Afghan star took the attack to the SRH bowlers in the last game to show the immense class he has with the bat in hand.

Sunil Narine will be looking forward to the final as he celebrates his birthday on Sunday. The West Indian star will want to celebrate his big day with the bat and ball and deliver KKR the title for the third time.

Middle-order – Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh

The fate of the KKR middle-order depends on the form of the two Iyers who smashed the SRH bowlers in the last game. Venkatesh Iyer has been in terrific form and his consistency has benefited KKR greatly. Shreyas Iyer apart from being a great skipper has also picked up his batting mojo in recent days and played some match-winning knocks for his side.

Nitish Rana made a strong return to the side after his injury and has been a great player for KKR with his ability to take on the opposition bowlers. Rinku Singh will want to end the season on a high put up a big score on the board and hopefully send a message to the Indian selectors.

Allrounder – Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh

Just like Sunil Narine, the presence of Andre Russell has been important this season for Kolkata Knight Riders. The Jamaican star has been the backbone for KKR in the lower middle order with his crucial cameos with the bat. Even with the ball, Andre Russell has been delivering the goods by picking crucial wickets. 

The capture of young talent like Ramandeep Singh has been one of the biggest achievements for KKR this year. The youngster has been able to give the team good finishes with the bat and has been called one of the finds of the season as a fielder.

Bowlers – Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy

The ace Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was in his element during the previous encounter against the same opponents. With a face-off against Travis Head looming Starc will send the fans pulses racing in the early overs of the final match.

Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy will have lots to do in the middle overs. Both bowlers have been in good wicket-taking form and helping their side formidable with the ball.
