IPL 2024: Bhojpuri commentators lambasted for use of ‘offensive language’, video goes viral

Bhojpuri commentators irked the fans with their usage of words during the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clash on Saturday, March 23.

The iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata saw an edge-of-the-seat thriller on Saturday as two former champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) brought their A-game to the fore. After KKR amassed 208/7 in their 20 overs, Heinrich Klaasen’s blitzkrieg kept the visitors in the hunt till the last over.

In the penultimate over, Klaasen pulled Mitchell Starc for a six over deep mid-wicket off the third ball. The Bhojpuri commentators described the shot in a manner that was appalling to the cricket enthusiasts as they shared their feeling on social media. One of the fans tagged popular Bhojpuri actors Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari as well as BCCI secretary Jay Shah and demanded the sacking of those commentators.
