IPL 2024: 5 Players who justified their price tags

The biggest cricket festival in the form of the IPL 2024 (Indian Premier League) had some great individual performances. Some of them helped win the matches for their side while others came in a losing cause. But the players did their best, irrespective of the result. Some of them were rewarded at the end of the season for scoring runs or taking wickets.

However, some players could not live up to the fans’ expectations. They were in poor form and often had a negative impact on the team. Some players were inconsistent and couldn’t do well in crunch situations. Despite their poor form, the teams backed them to deliver the goods. Some others did exceptionally well and justified their price tag.

Here are the five players who justified their price tags in the IPL 2024:

5. Tristan Stubbs

Tristan Stubbs was arguably the best finisher of the season. The young batter consistently finished the games for his side and won some matches. His batting allowed the top-order batters to take a bit of time and go after the bowlers later. After Jake Fraser McGurk’s arrival, his contributions did not go in vain.

4. Phil Salt

Phil Salt was brilliant for KKR throughout the season. The star batter scored runs at a good rate and kept the wickets well. Along with Sunil Narine, he formed a great opening pair and helped KKR to win a lot of games. After having a poor set of openers in the last couple of seasons, he brought stability to KKR’s lineup.

3. Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine was the MVP of the season by a mile. The only player who came remotely close to him was Virat Kohli. Such was his impact as a player. For the first time since 2018, he performed well as an All-rounder. The confidence given by the management helped him a good deal. For KKR, he turned out to be a gem of a player.

2. Shashank Singh

Shashank Singh was one of the best-emerging talents of the season. The right-handed batter was one of the reasons why PBKS came close to sinning many games despite losing early wickets in most instances. His form with the bat helped PBKS to pull off some great run chases. In the auction, his pick was controversial. But the youngster did not mind and performed for the team.

1. Jake Fraser-McGurk

Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk turned out to be a surprise package for DC in the IPL 2024 season. He was not in the XI in the first 4-5 matches. But with the tournament’s progression, he got chances and grabbed them with both hands. The emerging sensation came as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi and stepped up for DC big time. He had the highest SR for a batter in a season with 300 or more runs.
