At 35 years and 203 days, Bavuma became the oldest Proteas batter to get to 2000 runs in the format. Before Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen topped the charts with the batter getting past the figure aged 34 years and 247 days. He also became the joint-fourth quickest to score 2000 ODI runs in terms of innings.

Bavuma, who was rested in the series-opening clash in Ranchi, scored 46 off 48 in Raipur. He missed his half-century in Vizag as well, getting dismissed two runs shot of the mark by Ravindra Jadeja. Bavuma scored his 48 in 67 deliveries.
Speaking of the match, South Africa ended up posting 270 on the board in 47.5 overs. The experienced Quinton de Kock emerged as the top-scorer for the Proteas as the left-hander smashed 106 off 89 with eight fours and six sixes.
The Men in Blue were impressive with the ball as Kuldeep Yadav (4/41 in 10 overs) and Prasidh Krishna (4/66 in 9.5 overs) picked up eight wickets between them while Arshdeep Singh and Jadeja ended up securing one wicket apiece.
India require 271 to win the series after a harrowing defeat in the two-match Test series. The 50-over leg of the all-format series will be followed by five T20Is between December 9 to 19.
