Visiting side England put up a spirited bowling display to edge out Team India by 26 runs in the third T20I, on Tuesday, January 28. Notably, the game was played at the renowned Niranjan Shah Stadium, in Rajkot. With this, the Three Lions have kept themselves relevant and alive in the five-match T20I series.
After put in to bat first, opener Ben Duckett’s ravishing 51-run knock off just 28 balls led England to a solid start. However, in the middle stages, Indian bowlers, especially Varun Chakravarthy, continued his phenomenal bowling to rattle the visitors. As a result, the English side slumped from 83/1 to 127/8. Chakravarthy yet again showed his mysterious side of the bowling and claimed his second 5-wicket haul of the T20I series. He finished with 5/24 in his four-over quota.
Despite the collapse, Liam Livingstone provided a final flourish to England and the crucial last-wicket stand meant that the visitors bounced back by posting a competitive total of 171 runs on the board.
In reply of the run chase, Team India failed to get an explosive start and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Even though five batters were able to score in double digits, Hardik Pandya scored for the home side by scoring 40 runs off 35 deliveries. First, the hosts suffered an early jolt in the powerplay phase of the run chase and then the experienced legspinner Adil Rashid gave just 15 runs in his four overs and claimed the important wicket of Tilak Varma.
This led to the constant climbing up of the required run rate and caused the home team to succumb to the pressure. To sum it up, Hardik Pandya failed to play the role of a finisher to perfection and as a result, England tasted victory to end their losing streak in the series. Even though India lost the game, Varun Chakravarthy was adjudged as the Player of the Match in a rare feat under a losing cause for a bowler in the shortest format.

Among other notable performances from the English camp, all four pacers managed to pick wickets with all rounder Jamie Overton claiming a three-wicket (3/24) haul. While pacer Jofra Archer played an important role in the beginning and during the death overs.
