‘I have come here to talk about the game tomorrow’ – Litton Das fumes in exasperation as reporters pepper him with questions on Tamim Iqbal’s retirement

Among all the news that has recently surfaced, Bangladesh’s ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal’s international retirement is arguably the biggest and the most shocking one, triggering gossip and making headlines as bold as ever.

After the first ODI of the ongoing series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Tamim called for a press conference and announced his retirement from international cricket and even burst into tears while making it known.

For the remaining two matches of the series, Bangladesh have chosen Litton Das as their captain. It is worth noting that Bangladesh and Afghanistan take on each other in the second ODI of the series on Saturday, July 8 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Ahead of the clash, as Litton took part in the pre-match press conference, the 28-year-old was bombarded with questions about Tamim’s retirement rather than questions about the game. Expressing his frustration about the same, Das urged the reporters to focus on the forthcoming game.

“Is this press conference about what is going to happen tomorrow? Or else it’s better for Liton Das not to be here. You can call the board president or the coach regarding these issues. I have come here to talk about the game tomorrow,” Litton Das said in the pre-match press conference.

Furthermore, the 28-year-old was also asked about the impact of Tamim Iqbal’s absence and if that has had any negative impact on the team. Answering the question, Litton opined that there would be no changes and that things were running as smoothly as ever.

“No. He was there in the previous match but won’t be in the next match. Somehow if that wasn’t the case and instead, he had an injury, we would have played an alternative team. So I don’t think any change like that would come and things would stay the same,” Das said.

Bangladesh take on Afghanistan in a do-or-die match on July 8, as they lost the first ODI of the series based on DLS method and would look to improve on their showing in the next game.
