Pakistan’s T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha feels that the squad will not undergo major changes and will wear a similar look as the current squad come the T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka.

He also spoke on how the players in the 20-over squad have been assigned specific roles, adding that he hopes that the players will abide by them as the T20 World Cup draws close.

“In my personal opinion, I don’t see any major changes in the national T20 squad before the World Cup. I think the current combination we have will be the one we will have in the World Cup. Every player has been given a specific role in recent months, and with that, the team has moved forward,” Agha said on the PCB podcast.

He also elaborated on his aspiration to win the white-ball World Cups in 2026 and 2027. While he expressed confidence of his set of players, Agha commented that the team needs to do a bit more to reach to the top.

“I want us to win the 2026 T20 World Cup and then the 2027 ODI World Cup. Winning both World Cups is my dream; if it happens, I will be very happy. Senior players understand Sri Lankan pitches; the Sri Lanka series will benefit the new players before the World Cup. The team is on the right track, but there is still room for improvement. We want Pakistan to reach the level where everyone hopes to see it,” he added.

Pakistan have been a part of multiple T20I series so far. After the Pakistan Super League, the Green Shirts were involved against Bangladesh (both home and away), West Indies (away), and South Africa (home) They also participated in two tri-nation T20I series.

Speaking of the 2026 T20 World Cup, Pakistan are grouped along with India, Namibia, Netherlands and USA in Group A. All of Pakistan’s matches will be played across different venues in Sri Lanka.
