The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is currently underway in the Indian domestic circuit, and once it concludes, the Vijay Hazare Trophy will begin on December 24. This season has gained significant attention as former India captain Virat Kohli has agreed to participate in the tournament.

Kohli last featured in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2009-10 season, and his return after 15 years has created massive excitement among fans. He will represent Delhi in this year’s edition, and along with his comeback, there is also curiosity about how much he will earn for playing domestic cricket.

According to the BCCI’s domestic pay structure, which is determined strictly on the basis of a player’s List A experience, cricketers with 20 or fewer List A matches earn INR 40,000 per match, those with 21 to 40 matches earn INR 50,000 per match, and players with 41 or more List A appearances earn INR 60,000 per match. Since Kohli has played more than 300 List A games, he falls into the highest bracket, meaning he will receive INR 60,000 per match while representing Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Delhi are scheduled to play seven league matches, but Kohli is not expected to feature in all of them. As per reports, he is likely to participate in only three fixtures, on December 24 against Andhra, December 26 against Gujarat, and January 6 against Railways.

Delhi is placed in Group D, alongside Haryana, Gujarat, Saurashtra, Services, Odisha, Railways, and Andhra Pradesh. The league phase will conclude on January 11, followed by the knockout stages starting January 12. Virat Kohli’s record in the Vijay Hazare Trophy is exceptional, built on two outstanding seasons for Delhi before he established himself in the Indian national team.

In his 12 appearances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy between 2008 and 2010, Kohli scored a remarkable 763 runs at an average of 69.33, including four centuries and two fifties. This incredible consistency highlights the dominance he displayed in India’s domestic 50-over format during that period.
