Courtesy of a scintillating unbeaten 145-run knock by Jason Roy, Quetta Gladiators clinched a victory as they chased a daunting 241-run target set by Peshawar Zalmi at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on March 8 in Match 25 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Records tumbled during the clash as the Englishman Roy took the rival side by storm as he helped chase 241 runs in the contest. Following the match-winning knock, Roy labelled his innings to be his personal ‘best’. Roy notched up five sixes and 20 fours to score an unbeaten 145 off 63. With this, he eclipsed the highest score in PSL history, which was an unbeaten 127 by Colin Ingram for Karachi Kings in 2019.

“This is my best T20 innings, no doubt about it. I am sure this will go down for me as one of the greatest, and it will definitely live for a long time in my memory. For me, in T20 cricket, this is my favourite-ever innings because I was there till the end. Incredible, that’s the only kind of word that can sum it up. It’s a great advert for PSL and T20 cricket,” told Roy during the post-match presentation.

One night, two majestic tons – Jason Roy overshadows Babar Azam

Notably, two impressive centuries were registered in the clash. While one ended on a winning cause, the other one signed off the game remaining at the opposite end of the spectrum as Zalmi skipper Babar Azam notched up his maiden century (115 off 65 balls) in a losing cause.

In the post-match presentation, Roy further lavished massive praise on Babar’s knock. Babar got 15 boundaries and three maximums to his name to help steer his side to attain a mammoth 240.

“That was incredible to watch; unfortunately, it was against us. To watch Babar first-hand was very special but he could have done with getting a little less to make it a little easier for us,” added Roy.
