Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar has disclosed that three of his cricket bats went missing from a practice venue on Monday, 28 Spetmeber, with the combined worth of the equipment placed at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh. The bats were player-edition models, a grade reserved for professional use, and reports suggest the individual who took them may not have realised how valuable they were.

Chahar brought the matter to public attention through a video posted on Instagram, in which he described what had happened and invited his followers to weigh in on what he should do next. The clip spread quickly, drawing a large volume of responses from fans and fellow cricket enthusiasts.

What did Deepak Chahar say in his Instagram video?

In the video, Chahar confirmed both the number of bats taken and their total value, stating plainly that three bats amounted to Rs 1.5 lakh. He did not hold back on the financial impact of the loss, making clear that player-edition equipment carries a price tag that most people outside professional cricket would not anticipate.

The tone of the video was candid and at times light-hearted. Chahar appeared genuinely unsure about the right course of action and chose to put the question directly to his audience rather than announce any immediate steps. The response from followers was substantial, with many offering suggestions and expressing sympathy over the loss.

“Yesterday evening, 3 bats were stolen from here. What do you think I should do? They were very good bats. The one who stole them doesn’t even know how expensive they were,” Chahar said in the video.

Did Chahar consider filing a police complaint over the theft?

Rather than confirming a formal complaint, Chahar posed a humorous question to his viewers about who he should turn to for help. He made a hilarious remark about having to complain to either Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath or Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The remark was received as a joke, though it underlined his frustration at the situation. No formal police complaint had been confirmed at the time of publication.

Chahar has represented India in 13 ODIs and 25 T20 internationals, claiming 16 and 31 wickets in those formats respectively. The theft incident has drawn fresh attention to the cricketer at a time when he remains part of India’s white-ball setup.
