Joburg Super Kings will lock horns with Pretoria Capitals in the 13th match of the SA20 2024 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on January 20. Joburg Super Kings do not look in their touch as they have failed to win any games so far and are languishing at the bottom of the table. Pretoria Capitals, on the other hand, have won one game and are fifth in the rankings.

Joburg Super Kings squared off against Paarl Royals in their last encounter where Joburg Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat. Kings looked rusty on the field whether with the bat or ball. They struggle to get going and find regular boundaries. Leus du Plooy did play a fantastic innings worth 71 runs but could only take the team to a total of 134. Royals lost a wicket early in the chase of a below par total. Though they recovered quickly from it and a second wicket stand worth 87 runs sealed the game for them. They won the game easily by seven wickets with around six overs to spare.

Pretoria Capitals squared off against Durban’s Super Giants in their last encounter where Pretoria Capitals won the toss and elected to bat. Capitals went berserk with their innings as they smashed 75 runs for the opening stand 5 overs. They kept losing wickets throughout their innings but also kept the scoring rate up and as a result smashed 204 runs in the innings. Giants had a decent start to the chase but were far below the required scoring rate. They did score aggressively towards the end but it all proved to be too little too late as they fell short of the target by 17 runs.

The track at the Wanderers Stadium is more helpful to batters than it is to bowlers in nature. The ball comes on to the bat well here and so the batters are expected to up a good total on the board while there would be some help off the pitch for pacers too. Teams prefer to chase the total after winning the toss, with the average first innings score being 167.
