Virat Kohli’s Top 3 ODI World Cup knocks

Virat Kohli has been one of the greatest batters in the history of ODIs. In the ODI World Cup, Virat has played some of the great innings of his career. In the last 12 years, Virat has played several good knocks in different formats. But to perform in the ODI World Cup would mean a lot for any player. From 2011 to 2023, Virat has been playing in his fourth ODI World Cup. Here are the Top 3 knocks of Virat in the World Cup. 

#1. 107 vs Pakistan

It was the 2015 ODI World Cup semifinal. India took on their arch-rivals, Pakistan, in Adelaide. Batting first, India lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma early. Against a good attack consisting of the likes of Wahab Riaz, Sohail Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Shahid Afridi, and Yasir Shah, Kohli scored a fantastic hundred. In 126 balls, Virat scored 107 runs. On a wicket which had some pace and bounce, Virat anchored the Indian innings. It helped India to post 300 runs on the board. 

#2. 95 vs New Zealand

New Zealand posted 273 runs against India earlier this World Cup in Dharamshala. Chasing it, India got a good start, but lost both the openers in quick succession. In came Virat and got settled. At the other end, wickets kept falling on a regular basis. Virat needed to see off the chase. Against a good attack of New Zealand consisting of the likes of Trent Boult, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, and Mitchell Santner, Virat cleverly paced his innings and took India home. In 104 balls, Virat scored 95 runs. 

#3. 85 vs Australia

85 vs Australia

Australia scored 199 runs on a tricky wicket in Chennai against India. Chasing it, India found themselves at 2-3 at one stage. Against an attack consisting of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, and Glenn Maxwell, the Indian number 3 paced a fine innings. With KL Rahul going well at the other end, Virat maneuvered the gaps well and took India closer towards victory. Virat’s 85 helped India to win the match by 6 wickets to claim the first win of the ODI World Cup 2023.
