West Indies star cricketer Brian Lara is known as one of the most destructive batters in the history of cricket and has not only taken the side to the epitome of the level but also guided some of the epic wins to his national side in his professional career. The legendary batter holds several cricketing records in his career; however, his beast form was mainly seen in the ODIs.

The top-order batter made his ODI debut back on November 9, 1990, against Pakistan and went on to play 299 matches while having 10,405 runs to his name in his career. Meanwhile, check out his top three ODI knocks here.

1. 169 vs. Sri Lanka (Champions Trophy 1995, 5th game)

The opening batter’s top knock came during the fifth game of the Champions Trophy back in 1995, where he guided his side to win the game by four runs. Speaking about the game, the Windies posted 337/7 in the given 50 overs thanks to a batting performance from Lara, who made 169 runs from 129 balls, featuring 15 fours and four sixes, to help his side post the massive total against a strong Sri Lankan side. However, Sri Lanka fought hard but were bundled out for 329 runs, making them lose the game.

2. 153 vs. Pakistan (Champions Trophy 1993 Final)

The great batter’s second-best knock came at the most crucial time, as he helped his side lift the Champions Trophy title in 1993 against Pakistan. Notably, Pakistan hammered 284/4 in the given 50 overs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. However, during the chase, Windies star batter Brian Lara hammered 153 runs from 143 balls, featuring 21 fours in his knock, to help his side chase down the total with 27 balls to spare to win the marquee event.

3. 139 vs. Australia (3rd ODI, 1995)

Brian Lara’s third-best knock came during the third ODI against the Australian side at Port of Spain on March 12, 1995. The star batter guided his side to one of the biggest wins against the Australian side. Notably, the West Indies posted 282/5 in the given 50 overs owing to Lara’s batting performance. The top-order batter made 139 runs from 123 balls, featuring 15 fours and three sixes, to post a decent total. However, the Aussies were bundled out for just 149 runs and guided the Windies to win the game by 133 runs.
