Top three bowling figures in Indian T20 League

The Indian T20 League has a rich history of amazing performances, both with the bat and the ball. In its history of 15 years, since the inception of the tournament in 2008, there have been some amazing talents who have amazed everyone with their sensational performances. There have also been some bowlers who stole the show with stellar bowling spells. 

The tournament has witnessed a few new emerging teams winning the title alongside the dominance of big teams like Mumbai and Chennai. Apart from that, it has seen some brilliant bowlers like Brett Lee, Tim Southee, and other bowling greats showcasing their mettle.  

In this article, we take a look at three bowlers with the best bowling figures in the history of the tournament.

1. Alzarri Joseph

In the clash between Mumbai and Hyderabad in Hyderabad in the 2019 edition of the Indian T20 League, the Mumbai bowler Alzarri Joseph emerged as a sensation and scalped six wickets by conceding only 12 runs in 3.4 overs with a maiden over in his credit. 

This performance by Joseph is still the best bowling figure in the history of the tournament. Joseph conceded runs only with an economy rate of 3.27 runs per over. 

2. Sohail Tanvir

Notably, the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League in 2008 was the only edition of the tournament when the Pakistan players appeared in the tournament. The former star Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir was playing for Rajasthan in the first season.  

Tanvir happened to come with all guns blazing in the league match against Chennai on the 4th of May in 2008. The Rawalpindi pacer went on to claim six wickets by conceding only 14 runs in his spell of 4 overs. 

3. Adam Zampa

Pune and Hyderabad locked horns with each other in the league match of Indian T20 League 2016. Pune’s Adam Zampa claimed six wickets by conceding only 19 runs in his spell of four overs. Zampa recorded these figures on the 10th of May 2016. 

Zampa’s outstanding bowling figure is still among the top three best bowling figures in the history of the Indian T20 League.
