Michael Slater played the best knock of his Test career against Sri Lanka in 1995 at Perth. It was a brilliant batting effort from Slater that led Australia to a thumping Test victory over Sri Lanka. Batting first Sri Lanka posted 251 runs on the board. In reply, Slater tested the Sri Lankan bowlers and took them on remand. Opening the innings with the skipper Mark Taylor he smashed a double century which helped Australia score 617 runs before they declared the innings. The Kangaroos took a huge lead courtesy of Slater’s double century which later proved to be decisive.

A batting masterclass against the arch-rivals England, this would rank among the best batting performances of Michael Slater in his Test career. He scored 176 runs against England in 1994 at Brisbane. It was the first Test of the series and Slater started the series in style. Australia batted first in the match. Michael Slater exploited the opportunity and played a blinder of an inning. His 176-run knock guided Australia to 426 runs in the first innings.

Here is another match-winning batting performance at Brisbane but this time against Pakistan. Pakistan made a brilliant start to the game as they scored 367 runs in the first innings. Australia needed to take a lead in the first innings if they had to assert their dominance in their backyard. Slater made the job easier for the Kangaroos with his batting prowess. The right-handed opener amassed 169 runs and built vital partnerships with Mark Waugh and Greg Blewett. These partnerships helped Australia take a massive lead at the end of the first innings as they ended up with 575 runs.
