IPL 2024: Predicting Punjab Kings’ Playing XI for their clash against Chennai Super Kings

The 49th match of IPL, CSK vs PBKS is scheduled to take place on 1st May 2024 in the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Even after an amazing match against KKR, PBKS is in the eighth position in the IPL points table. In order to climb the ladder and qualify for the playoffs, PBKS has to give their best to steal a spot in the top four. 

Here is the Predicted Playing XI of PBKS:

Openers: Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh

Bairstow is likely to open the batting round in the match between PBKS and CSK. He is in good form, which is quite evident from his display in the previous match against KKR, which helped his side chase the target of 261. On the other hand, the Impact-sub Prabhsimran Singh has given an amazing chase to his side during the previous match against KKR, where he had scored 54 runs off 20 balls. He has been able to score 208 runs in nine matches. 

Middle-Order: Rilee Rossouw, Jitesh Sharma (W), Shashank Singh

Rossouw is expected to be a part of PBKS playing XI. He scored 26 runs in the previous match off 16 balls. Jitesh Sharma has not been very keen with the bat this season, but he has proved to be beneficial in the wicket-keeping end for his side. Shashank Singh was able to score his highest runs in IPL, which was 68 off 28 balls. It will be interesting to see what he has on display for the CSK match.

All-Rounder: Sam Curran, Ashutosh Sharma

Sam Curran has been consistent for the side. He has been performing well and up to the expectations for PBKS. It is expected that in case Shikhar Dhawan fails to return to his side, Curran shall continue to uphold his role as the captain of the team. On the other hand, Ashutosh Sharma is another secret superstar which PBKS has unveiled this season. He has gotten a strike rate of 189, so far.

Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada, Harshal Patel, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar

With an average of 21 and an economy of almost 10, Rabada is a good option for the PBKS team. Similarly, Harshal Patel has been able to take 14 wickets with the ball this season, even after beginning slow in the tournament. Brar can prove to be beneficial for the team in the match against Chennai, although he did not get an opportunity to showcase much in the previous match against KKR.
