Top 3 bowlers whose career was marred due to illegal action

Bowling in cricket is a fascinating art that requires a lot of skill and technique. However, some bowlers have been caught with illegal bowling actions, leading to a blemish on their otherwise stellar careers. Here are three bowlers whose careers were marred by their illegal actions:

Saeed Ajmal was one of the best spinners in the world during his career, but his career took a hit when he was banned for an illegal bowling action in 2014. He had a unique action that made it difficult for batsmen to pick his deliveries.

However, after his ban, he was never able to regain his form and retired from cricket in 2017. Ajmal took 447 wickets in 113 Test matches, 184 wickets in 111 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 85 wickets in 64 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

2. Sunil Narine:

Sunil Narine is a West Indian off-spinner who has been one of the most successful bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, his bowling action was deemed illegal in 2014, and he was banned from bowling in international cricket.

He worked on his action and returned to international cricket in 2015, but questions about the legality of his action have persisted. Narine has taken 390 wickets in 341 T20 matches, 92 wickets in 65 ODIs, and 52 wickets in 51 T20Is.

3. Sachithra Senanayake:

Sachithra Senanayake is a Sri Lankan off-spinner who was banned from bowling in international cricket in 2014 due to an illegal action. He had a successful start to his career, taking 27 wickets in 15 ODIs, but his action was questioned during the series against England, and he was subsequently banned.

He worked on his action and made a comeback in 2015 but was never able to regain his form. Senanayake has taken 34 wickets in 39 ODIs and 17 wickets in 17 T20Is.
