Three contenders to win the Indian T20 League 2023

The Indian T20 League 2023 will kick off on March 31st. This edition of the tournament will be held in 12 venues of India. The league will be played in the home and away format as usual. The 2022 edition of the league was entirely staged in Mumbai due to Covid 19 pandemic. The Indian fans will come in large numbers to watch the games.

The season promises to be bigger and better as the impact player rule will be applied. Reviews can also be used for no-balls and wides as well. The first game will be played between Chennai and Gujarat at the Narendra Modi stadium at Ahmedabad. The League has a different broadcaster for television and Digital this season. Let us take a look at three title contenders for the 2023 season.

3. Gujarat

Gujarat won their first title in their inaugural season in 2022. The captain-coach duo of Ashish Nehra and Hardik Pandya led the side to the trophy. Rahul Tehwatia, Rashid Khan, David Miller, Shubman Gill and Lockie Ferguson played out of their skins throughout the season to emerge victorious. Kane Willamson and Joshua Little are the prime overseas signings ahead of the 2023 season.

2. Mumbai

Mumbai have been the most successful franchise in the Indian T20 League and have won five titles. The fans of Mumbai will hope that the franchise bounces back after finishing last in 2022. With the likes of Tim David, Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, Tristan Stubs make Mumbai a threatening batting lineup. Jason Beherendoff and Jofra Archer will be Mumbai’s trump cards with the ball.

Chennai have won four Indian T20 League titles under MS Dhoni’s leadership. This year the squad has been bolstered with the signing of Ben Stokes. Deepak Chahar has attained full fitness ahead of the tournament. They also have a new signing in the form of Sisanda Magala. There is speculation that this will be MS Dhoni’s last season in the Indian T20 League. Chennai will want to win the title this year and make sure MS Dhoni signs of on a high.
