Manchester Originals will clash with Southern Brave in the second match of the Hundred Men’s 2025 tournament at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester on Wednesday, August 6.

Manchester Originals finished eighth in the standings after winning only one game in the group stage last season. On paper, they may have one of the strongest teams this season, and they are anticipated to leave their mark this year.

Phil Salt

Phil Salt was the star for Originals with 228 runs in eight games last season with a strike rate of 149 and will be expected to do the same this year as well. He will be aided by Rachin Ravindra and Jos Buttler in the top order. This will be the first time for Rachin Ravindra to feature in the tournament. Buttler has an impressive 632 runs at a strike rate of 141.70 in 17 games in the tournament.

Heinrich Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen is now a freelance cricketer and will play the full season of The Men’s Hundred. He scored 189 runs at a strike rate of 178.30 in seven games last season. The young Tom Aspinwall will aim to impress for Originals after playing three games last season. The Lancashire keeper-batter Matthew Hurst made 149 runs at a strike rate of 161.95 in six games in the Hundred 2024.

Tom Hartley

Tom Hartley has 30 wickets in 32 games with an economy of 8.41 in the tournament. He has also made 106 runs with the bat. Scott Currie is a young talent with the Manchester Hundred team and performed well in limited opportunities last season.

Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad will have a chance to showcase his brilliance with his left-arm wrist spin, as the youngster from Afghanistan has 196 T20 wickets in 162 games with a best of 5/11 and an economy of 7.24. Josh Tongue will have to adapt to the new format days after a thrilling Test series against India. The veteran  James Anderson will be playing his first season of the Hundred.
