The Hundred Men’s 2025: Predicting London Spirit XI for match 1

The first match of the Hundred Men’s 2025 tournament will see London Spirit taking on the Oval Invincibles at Lord’s, London, on August 5.

Last season, London Spirit had a lacklustre campaign and they finished the season eighth in the standings with one victory in eight games and five straight losses. Spirit lost both of their games against the Oval Invincibles last season.

David Warner

David Warner, the veteran opener, will take the first strike for London Spirit, along with Keaton Jennings. Jennings has played five games for Spirit and has 137 runs with one fifty to his name. Ollie Pope is expected to take the number three spot.

Middle Order:

Kane Williamson

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson will captain the side, and this will be his first time in the Hundred competition. He does have significant experience in Blast with 1302 runs in 53 games. Jamie Smith is slated to be the designated wicketkeeper for the Spirit’s side. Wayne Madsen, has 295 runs in 21 games in the Hundred, will anchor the middle order.

Lower Order:

Liam Dawson

Liam Dawson has a good record in the Hundred with 214 runs and 24 wickets in 29 games for two teams in the competition. Jamie Overton is slated to be the pace-bowling all-rounder in the team and has three wickets and 296 runs with a best of 83* in 18 games in the Men’s Hundred.

Luke Wood

Luke Wood has 24 wickets in 28 games in the Hundred with a best of 3/17, and this will be his first time with the Spirits team. Richard Gleeson has 11 wickets in 11 games in the Hundred, and this will be his second season with the Spirits. Olly Stone has been retained by the Spirits team. He picked seven wickets in eight games in the previous Hundred season.
