West Indies and USA are set to host the biggest event of 2024 in the form of the T20I World Cup. All of the top nations will be looking to do their best and win the biggest prize in international T20 Cricket.

While most of the players are busy in the IPL honing their skills, most of the team management will be keeping a close eye on the players. So far batters have ruled the roost during the IPL 2024 tournament.

As the season heads into the second phase, the bowlers will come more and more into the equation. Some of the playing surfaces in India will give the bowlers good practice for the upcoming tournament in the West Indies and the USA.

In this article, we cast a closer look at the top three leading wicket-takers in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The young pacer has yet again been in sizzling form with the ball for Chennai Super Kings this year. Matheesha Pathirana has every needed component to make a bowler successful in the T20I format. The 21-year-old can bowl at good speeds and also has a very lethal Yorker. Considering that most of the wickets in the West Indies will help bowlers who can vary their pace, Matheesha Pathirana could be a handful for many teams in the coming tournament.

The 30-year-old has varied his pace well and got a few key wickets and also a good Yorker up his sleeve.

1. Jasprit Bumrah – India

Rohit Sharma will be banking on his leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah to do the job for his side. Jasprit Bumrah has been the best bowler for Mumbai Indians this year and he has been bowling with a decent pace. Considering that India will be without Mohammed Shami, the onus is on Bumrah to be the spearhead. With all his experience in the T20 format, Bumrah has become a really dangerous bowler with his ability to bowl quickly, as well as bowl a mean slower ball that foxes even the best of batters.
