Predicting Punjab Kings’ four overseas players for their Playing XI in the IPL 2025

Punjab Kings retained just two players before the IPL 2025 Auctions with both the stars being uncapped, Punjab had a lot of money to play with. Shreyas Iyer was the biggest purchase with PBKS paying 26.75 Crores to make him the costliest player for a while.

Arshdeep Singh was also brought back for INR 18 Crores via the RTM Card. Yuzvendra Chahal has also made his way to Punjab after spending a few seasons in Jaipur with Rajasthan Royals.

Ricky Ponting is the new coach of the franchise and it is expected that Shreyas Iyer will be named the captain. After having spent so much one expects Punjab to be one of the principal challengers to the IPL title.

Here are the likely 4 overseas players for Punjab Kings:

Opener – Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis at the top of the order can do the same job that Phil Salt did for KKR last season. The Australian star is a naturally aggressive batter who can take the attack to the opposition in the first six overs. Inglis has already scored a century in the T20I format in late 2023 during their tour of India last season. The conditions in Chandigarh will favour the Aussie star and his penchant for scoring quick runs.

Middle-Order – Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell

Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell

Australian duo Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell will be huge players for Punjab this year. Stoinis had a great season with the bat and ball for Lucknow last season and also scored a century. The veteran star is also more than useful with the ball and can chip in with key wickets when needed. Glenn Maxwell has come back to Punjab where he has a huge support. Maxwell was part of the Punjab side that reached the finals in 2014 where he played a key role.

Lower middle Order – Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen

South African star Marco Jansen has been impressing with the bat and ball in the last few months. The 24-year-old scored a fifty against India during the recent T20I series at home and nearly pulled off a famous win. Even with the ball, Jansen has been in good form as evident with his 7-wicket haul against Sri Lanka which bowled out the visitors for 42 runs.
