Predicting Ireland’s playing 11 against South Africa for the 2nd ODI

Ireland will head into the 2nd ODI against South Africa having lost the first game by a massive margin of 139 runs. It was a one-sided affair as Temba Bavuma and his side just steamrolled Ireland with the bat and ball. None of the batters from Ireland could go past 25 with George Dockrell 21 being the best.

Mark Adair was the best bowler for Ireland with 4 wickets for 50 runs from his 10 overs. The South Africans had posted a huge score of 271 on the board with Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs scoring half-centuries.

Ireland had lost the 1st T20I game before making a spirited comeback and winning the 2nd game. Paul Stirling will hope that his team can do the same and make a similar comeback and force the series into a decider.

Here is the likely Ireland XI:

Openers – Andrew Balbirnie and Paul Stirling

Andrew Balbirnie has been one of the most experienced batters along with Paul Stirling for Ireland. While Balbirnie scored 20 in the 1st match, Stirling scored just 2 runs before falling to Lungi Ngidi. The two batters will hope for a better show on Sunday and will want to score more for their team.

Middle Order – Harry Tector and Stephen Doheny

Two of the most talented batters in Ireland, Harry Tector and Stephen Doheny, had a game to forget on Wednesday. The two batters have plenty of talent and will have a huge point to prove when the game gets going on Friday. South Africa will not take the duo lightly as they have the ability to bat big and score well.

All-rounders – George Dockrell, Curtis Campher, and Andy McBrine

Ireland’s veteran all-rounder George Dockrell will have to play a huge role with the bat and ball on Friday. The left-arm spinner will be one of the players who can have a huge say in the game on the slow surfaces of Abu Dhabi. Curtis Campher and Andy McBrine also looked to play a huge role with the bat and ball during the 2nd ODI.

Bowlers – Mark Adair, Gavin Hoey, Graham Hume, and Craig Young
