The 10th match of WCL 2025 will feature a thrilling encounter as Australia champions (AUS-C), buoyed by a crushing 9.3-over chase of the West Indies champions, will take on India champions (IND-C). They are in good form and full of confidence, so the AUS-C dynamic batting and all-round game are good reasons to expect them to illuminate us once again.
Openers

Up front, Chris Lynn is still a powerhouse in the Australian side. His 81 runs off 27 balls against the West Indies were an amazing exhibition of power hitting and ability to launch an innings with a strike rate of 300.00. Lynn can dismantle any bowling attack from the start, and that’s what AUS-C need, because it gives them a fantastic platform to build their innings.
D’Arcy Short, who was 18 not out off 12 balls in the same game, provides excellent backup with a more aggressive, but controlled style. Short’s ability to find the singles and clear the boundaries is an exceptional foil to Lynn’s aggressive batting. Together, they provide an opening partnership that is capable of changing the fortunes of a game within a few moments.
Middle Order

Ben Dunk is an extremely important player in the middle order for AUS-C. You only need to see his strike rate of 333.33 with a not-out 30 off 9 balls at the death to see AUS-C chase down the West Indies quite comfortably. Dunk’s innings were representative of fearless hitting and kitchen-sink crunched hitting to finish the game, and in a close situation, Dunk is invaluable.
Shaun Marsh has unfortunately struggled and was out for 7 in the last game, but we hope he will provide some longevity and experience to the middle order. When Marsh gets going, he can foreman the innings and develop partnerships to get the team into strong high chases, and the partnership with Dunk was a combination of aggression and stability throughout the middle overs.
All-Rounders

Dan Christian and Nathan Coulter-Nile, two versatile players, bolster Australia’s depth. Christian was unable to showcase any of his batting abilities in the last match; however, his ability to either hit out of the ground or contribute economically in the middle overs gives him a real double threat for the opposition.
Moreover, hollowing he opened the bowling and picked up 2 wickets for 21 runs highlights the quality of his bowling, especially critical middle overs. Both Clara and Nathan can still contribute to the order with the bat, as well as breakthroughs with the ball. I do think all-round ability can swing a match – especially against a good Indian batting line-up.
Bowlers

For AUS-C, I would be watching Peter Siddle and Nathan Coulter-Nile. Siddle took three wickets last match while taking a good line and length style of bowling, and it was enough to keep the West Indies noticeably silent on runs and pressure on the whole innings.
Coulter-Nile’s pace and swing make him a threat every time he bowls, which was evidenced by his two wickets coming with a solid economy rate of 5.25 runs per over. Both bowlers combine skill with experience, and I feel that Siddle’s accuracy balances Coulter-Nile’s raw pace.
The stage is set for Match 10 as the Australian Champions gear up to face the India Champions. They have bolstered the playing 11 to a now very strong team of match-winners, power hitters, and starters, with players like Chris Lynn, finisher Ben Dunk, and all-rounder Dan Christian and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
