
Spin bowling is a difficult art to master, and if one is a leg-spin bowler, it takes a different skill. Nepal have a young sensation in the form of Sandeep Lamichhane who has taken spin bowling to the next level. The youngster has also faced a lot of trials and tribulations in his personal life.
Born on the 2nd of August in 2004, young Sandeep Lamichhane made his way to the senior side on the back of his tremendous performances at the age-group level. Once he made his way to the national side, he became one of the key players for his side.
Sandeep Lamichhane was not only a sought-after name in international cricket but also a huge name in franchise cricket. He is the only player from Nepal to have played in the IPL and various other leagues across the world.
Sandeep Lamichhane: Troubled star with genuine talent
Having shot to fame at the age of 14, Sandeep Lamichhane was earmarked for a bright future right from the start. The youngster was known to have the best of batters in trouble with his talents with the ball.
Sandeep Lamichhane first made his name famous when he was picked as a part of the World XI for a game against West Indies in the T20 format. This was his international debut and the Nepal spinner bowled just a single over and gave away 12 runs and didn’t get another chance to bowl.
His debut in the ODI format came a day before he turned 18-years-old. Playing against the Netherlands, Lamichhane bowled 10 overs, got the wicket of Stephen Myburg and conceded 42 runs.
Till now Sandeep Lamichhane has played 51 ODI matches and picked 112 wickets with a best of 6/11 which is one of the three fifers he has picked. The youngster also holds the record for the fastest bowler to pick 100 wickets in the ODI format.
In the T20I format, Sandeep Lamichhane has played 54 matches and picked 100 wickets. His best of 5/9 is his only fifer in this format with an economy rate of 6.22 runs per over.
