
Jhulan Goswami was born in Nadia, Bengal, On November 25, 1982. Renowned as one of the most clinical bowlers in the world, she has earned accolades through her remarkable control and subtle variations off the pitch. Over her illustrious career, Goswami became the highest wicket-taker in women’s ODI history and now mentors a young generation of fast bowlers in India.
The 42-year-old was earmarked for leadership when she was named vice-captain ahead of India’s tour of England in 2006. She played a pivotal role in India’s Test series win, including their first-ever victory against England. In the first Test at Leicester, she scored a valuable fifty as a nightwatcher and followed it with career-best match figures of 10/78 in the second Test at Taunton.

In 2015, she was among four senior players awarded the highest grade of central contracts by the BCCI for the first time.
Over her career, Goswami took 44 wickets in 12 Tests, 255 wickets in 204 ODIs, and 56 wickets in 68 T20Is. With the bat, she scored 291 Test runs, 1228 ODI runs, and 405 T20I runs, cementing her legacy as one of India’s greatest women cricketers and also around the world.
