Qualifier 1 of PSL 2025 sets up to be an absolute thriller as Islamabad United prepare for a high-pressure final at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Islamabad United is one of the most impressive teams all season, displaying & proving confidence and consistency throughout their matches; they have one game between them and the final. Islamabad has a highly versatile team, putting together winning combinations within every department of its power.
Batters

Sahibzada Farhan has been the standout batter for Islamabad United throughout the tournament and has been consistent when at the top of the order. With 394 runs at a strike rate of 154.50, Farhan has shown that he knows how to balance aggression with responsibility. An innings of 106 shows how he has played the role of innings anchor while also being able to accelerate when needed. He will be an important player on a pitch that has provided good runs for the stroke players.
Alex Hales has only seen one inning in this tournament, but what an innings it has been, scoring 88 runs from 35 balls at a strike rate of 251.42. By demonstrating he was not here to make up the numbers, Hales has worldwide T20 franchise experience and a batting style built on power, making him a scary proposition to bowlers during the power play. If he can get going again, it will provide Islamabad with a flying start at a time they need it.
All-Rounders

Jason Holder is a massive plus, being the genuine all-rounder that he is. While he has only made a small contribution of 69 runs so far this season, most often playing a supporting role behind the big hitters, he has carved out his potential match-winner’s place as a player with the 15 wickets he has claimed in only 8 innings. Holder’s height, slingy-action, ability to bowl accurate line and length, and control his pace when he needs to create a lethal challenge for any batsman, even in batting-friendly conditions.
With his steady spin and ice-cool temperament, Imad Wasim adds balance and composure to any side under pressure. He has picked up 12 wickets in 9 innings from a team that is prone to have a lot of, if not most, innings struggling to establish themselves with the ball. He has provided some quiet performances that have turned matches with the best figures of only 3/26, which reflect his ability to keep the run rate down and create chances for his team when the game is in tight moments.
Bowlers

Shadab Khan’s dual role as captain and strike leg-spinner makes him integral to Islamabad’s bowling strategy. With 13 wickets in eight matches, including best figures of 4/45, Shadab is at his best when the pressure is on. He is never shy to change it up and fool a batsman, as an efficient regular wicket-taker should on gripping and bouncy surfaces like Rawalpindi.
He will have a useful partner in Imad Wasim. His solid lines, excellent field placements and control are exactly what you ask for in the middle overs, a reliable bowler. Together, they will put the opposition batsman in a stranglehold and take crucial wickets.
The road to the PSL 2025 final is now at its exciting and explosive stage, and expect to see plenty of fireworks, several defined moments, and a few game-changing performances along the way.
